Day 1: Bagan - Kyaun Thiri - Bagan
Your English-speaking guide and driver will meet you at your hotel lobby at 9:30 a.m. and transport you to the Irrawaddy riverfront’s small boat jetty in New Bagan where you will board a small local boat for a 15-minute cruise to get the village of Kyaun Thiri.
During this short cruise you can observe fishermen setting and checking their nets, local ferry boats shuttling villagers around, riverside villages and wildlife, as well as river views of the temples of Bagan.
Upon your arrival at the sand island that contains the village of Kyaun Thiri (meaning Auspicious Island) you will be met by local oxen carts for the short ride to the village. Once at the village you will explore the daily life of the local inhabitants with a walking tour.
You will then settle in at a local home and after having a short rest you will get the opportunity to learn how to cook the village’s traditional cuisines. If you wish to participate in the cooking of your lunch you are welcomed or if you simply want to relax and observe the choice is yours. Once the cooking is completed you can enjoy the rural setting of the village as you feast on your lunch of freshly prepared local traditional dishes made from garden-fresh ingredients.
Once you have finished your lunch you will return to your small boat and cruise back to the small boat jetty at New Bagan where your transportation will meet you at the river’s edge and return you to your hotel
