Day 1: Mandalay -Mingun-Mandalay
Your English-speaking guide and driver will meet you at your hotel lobby at 8:00 a.m. and transport you the bustling Gaw Win Jetty where you will board a local boat to sail north about one hour to visit the riverside village of Mingun.
Upon your arrival in Mingun you will view the unfinished massive remains of Mingun Pathtodawgyi which was to be the world’s largest stupa. The massive brick structure begun in 1790 now stands at about one third of the height originally planned by King Bodawpaya.
A short walk trough the many village’s small shops and art galleries will take you to visit the world second-largest uncracked bell, the Mingun Bell, that weighs in at about 90 tons.
Your tour will continue to see the beautiful Hsinbyume Pagoda who’s white terraced design is said resemble a western wedding cake. You will then have some time to explore and shop on your own before your boat will return you to Mandalay.
Once back in Mandalay you will then meet your driver at approximately 12:30 p.m. to be transported back to your hotel.
