Traditional Myanmar marionette performance in Yangon’s Htwee Oo Theater
Day 1: Marionette show in Yangon
Your English-speaking guide and driver will meet you at your hotel lobby 1.5 hours before your scheduled marionette show time.
After the transfer to the performance site you will meet your marionette team and learn how their traditional puppets are constructed, beautifully dressed with lavish costumes and often embellished with gilded materials, as well as semi-precious gemstones depending on the puppets intended character.
You will have an opportunity to try your hand at making one of the marionettes come to life.
Then your traditional Myanmar marionette show will begin. Teams of as many as four people are needed to make these puppets come to life. The skilled hands of the local puppeteers will work together to manipulate strings and rods from behind a curtain while other performers give voice to the puppets to create a unique performance of several traditional stories.
After a final photo opportunity with the marionettes and puppeteer team your English-speaking guide and driver return you to your hotel.
