Day 1: Yangon - Bago - Yangon
Our experienced English-speaking guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel (08:00 AM). Drive to north of Yangon, to the Ancient Mon Dynasty city called “Bago “(80 km, 2 hrs drive). On the way, we will visit KyeikPon Pagoda and its 28 meter high Buddha Image. Once in Bago, we will visit KyaKhatWai Monastery, one of the three largest monasteries in the country. Watching the long line of Monks and Novices taking their last meal of the day in silence is quite an impressive sight.
We will continue the tour visiting Shwemawdaw Pagoda, one of the most venerated pagodas in Myanmar featuring a great statue (55 feet long) of a reclining Buddha, which is believed to have been built in 944. In the afternoon, we will visit Kanbawzadi Palace, Shwetharlaung’s huge reclining Buddha and MahaZedi, as well as walk around a Mon Village to see the handmade weaving and daily life of the Mon People and a cheroot making factory.
Drive Back to Yangon. On the way, if time permit ot do one more visit, we will make a stop in HtaukKyant War Memorial Cemetery, a regal memorial to the 27,000 allied soldiers who died in World War II. Drive back to the hotel.
