The beautiful Ngapali Beach stretches over 3 km, being an ideal place for those who love blue and placid waters, white sand, sunshine and snorkeling. Ngapali Beach is a great place to end a tour around Myanmar amidst peaceful surroundings.
The beautiful Ngapali Beach is located in Thandwe (Sandoway), about 1 hr flight northwest from Yangon. It can be reached by basic scheduled flights, being also connected to Bagan and Heho airports. There are no suitable roads to reach it. Located on the Rakhine coast, near the small town of Thandwe, it is an unspoiled beach, stretching over 3 km and offers the blue-green sea of the Bay of Bengal, white sand and swaying palm trees for visitors to enjoy. There is a 9 – holes golf course only three miles away from the Ngapali hotel. Nearby fishing villages are also interesting places.
Active visitors will choose to hire a boat to explore offshore islands, rent bicycles for a trip to the fisherman villages or visit the colourful local market in Thandwe (Sandoway). Some of the hotels offer beach activities including surfing and boating.
Ngapali Beach is dotted with charming boutique resorts built in local style. There are no high rises, no noisy roads and no white tiled hotel buildings. The resorts’ architecture blends harmoniously with the natural surroundings. Whereas the first resorts of international standard opened in 1999, new projects were completed in 2004 and several properties will open in the next few years. Today there is a vast choice of accommodation catering to the demands and budgets of every traveller.
All hotels offer a choice of restaurants including Western and Asian cuisine. There are also several local restaurants within walking distance from the hotels where local dishes, in particular fish and sea food, are served.
The best time to visit Ngapali Beach is from October to May.
